A Suffolk sausage festival which has grown to become a highlight of the culinary calendar is taking a “breather” in 2019 – after anticipating a record attendance at this year’s event.
Organisers of the Framlingham Sausage Festival said they are bracing themselves for a “very busy day” when their eighth event gets underway on Sunday, October 14.
With new competitors, extra musical entertainment and a free awards party at Framlingham Castle, headlined by Conor Adams, thousands are expected attend. Visitors will again take part in a ‘sausage trail’ before choosing their favourite delicacy for the coveted ‘best banger’ title.
Steve Calver, events manager for Framlingham Business Association, which organises the festival, said: “Everything is set for our eighth sausage take-over of Framlingham and we’ve made several improvements to keep our visitors even happier.
“Ample free parking is organised at Framlingham College with extra minibuses to ferry people into town and to venues for free. Please don’t park on the roadside. I’m particularly looking forward to all the new music talent showcasing on our Fresh Talent performance area in the centre of town.”

New inclusions for this year’s outing include free tasting forks for visitors, to cut down on the thousands of cocktail sticks which have been used to sample sausages at previous festivals.
Producers have been invited to prepare presentation to give tasters more of a flavour for how their sausages have been made.

Organisers have also introduced new ways to minimise queues at the venues around the town.
The bustling market place is set to feature an extra 15 stalls as well as favourites from last year.
Workshops will also be returning, including new attractions such as wine tasting, Indian head massages as well as kids and animal art. People will also be able to have a go at making their own sausages, or design their own ceramic plates.
Other returning attractions include the Silent Disco, Greg the entertainer and Steff and Nonsense for the younger visitors.
Visitors will also be able to choose different ticket options including a standard £6 day pass, a £3.50 option for those who just want to take part in workshops and a discounted £20 family ticket.
