An appeal for witnesses has been relaunched after new details emerged in relation to reports of a woman being raped in Brandon.

The woman reported being raped by a man on Sunday morning at around 2am in an open space accessed via Knappers Way, adjacent to Glade Primary School and opposite a play area.

It is believed the attacker approached the area from the direction of Knappers Way where he then encountered the victim - who had gone out for a walk – and raped her.

The incident has now been escalated to the Major Investigation Team.

The victim is being supported by specialist trained officers as efforts to identify the offender are taking place. This will include forensic work, along with CCTV and house to house enquiries.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his 20s-30s, 5ft 6in tall, of stocky build, and speaking with an eastern European accent.

Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Millar, of the Major Investigation Team, said: 'We are in the process of progressing a number of lines of enquiry, whilst continuing to support and work with the victim following this attack.

'I would urge anyone who was in the area between the hours of 12am and 3am on Sunday morning, or who has any information about this incident to come forward - including if you believe you saw a man matching this description walking along Knappers Way or any other roads or paths in the vicinity.'

Any witnesses are asked to contact the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Major Investigation Team on 101, quoting reference 39638/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
