Communities, groups, schools and businesses across Babergh and Mid Suffolk are being urged to apply for grant funding to promote a cycling event in their area.
Grants of up to £500 are available for activities involving cycling, held before the end of March. It is part of the two district councils’, which work in partnership, commitment to supporting the Suffolk Year of Cycling.
Diana Kearsley, Mid Suffolk’s portfolio holder for communities, said: “We’ve had the Women’s Tour and now we are just weeks away from the Aviva Men’s Tour. It’s such an exciting spectacle I hope everyone takes the opportunity to be involved in some way – by organising events or simply lining the race route and cheering these sportspeople all the way.”
Jan Osborne, Babergh’s portfolio holder for health, wellbeing and communities, said: “It is important to us that people are healthy, active and engaged in their community and cycling, alongside supporting such a major event, gives us the opportunity to do all of these things.”
