FORMER world champion boxer Frank Bruno packed a punch yesterday when he lent his support to a new 13million centre for adult mental health.

Bruno was in Chelmsford to officially open North Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust's state of the art “older adult mental health centre”.

The facility will provide a full range of care including 34 beds, a 30-place day hospital and community services for older adults living in mid-Essex.

It will also offer a memory assessment service to people of all ages - services currently housed throughout Chelmsford.

Chairman Mary St Aubyn said: “I am thrilled to be opening this superb new facility.

“Our trust's dementia services are nationally recognised as centres of excellence and we're delighted that Frank has opened the centre.”
