The Suffolk Show is the county’s biggest event of the year. Over two days, the very best of Suffolk is on show to the tens of thousands of visitors who make their way to Trinity Park, just outside Ipswich.

The show celebrates Suffolk’s centuries-old agricultural heritage, and also emphasises the importance of the rural economy to the prosperity of the modern-day county.

It has, of course, embraced change, but it stays true to its roots. As a result, it remains a hugely important event on Suffolk’s social calendar. It’s an opportunity for business to be done, for friends to meet up, and for families to have a great day out.

Over the decades, our photographers have captured thousands of images at the show - from prize-winning animals to priceless Suffolk characters, and from Royal visitors to wide-eyed children taking in all the sights and sounds.

Now, the EADT and the Ipswich Star have produced a superb photographic celebration of the last century of the Suffolk Show. Beginning in the days when the show was staged at different locations in the county, and coming right up to date, this special edition of our Days Gone By nostalgia series captures the very essence of this magnificent event.

The glossy magazine has 116 pages packed with brilliant photographs, each one of them telling part of the fascinating story of how the Suffolk Show has evolved over the years.

You might see someone you know – or maybe even yourself! I hope you enjoy the memories.
