This week, as we bid farewell to the old year and prepare to welcome 2014 with a bang, readers have been sharing their highlights from the past year. For Frances Crickmore, it was a toss up between being entertained by “the amazing Maasai Warriors with their fantastic dancing and high jumping” and watching the spectacular deer rut in the autumn.
Meanwhile Margaret and Brian Holland, wildlife enthusiasts from Suffolk, it was capturing the wyrneck on camera at Felixstowe.
Mr Holland said: “The wryneck was very special for us as it took three days to photograph it like this but then all images hold a special place in our memories.”
