Visitors to a Suffolk town were greeted with snow falling from the skies as part of a weekend of events in the run up to Christmas.

The organisers of Needham Market’s annual Christmas Fayre believe the number of people who attended exceeded last year’s 1,500.

More than 80 stalls were spread across the town as businesses and organisations came together to put on the event.

One of the organisers was Steven Moore, who runs the Post Office shop.

He said: “It was really good – there were lots of shops open and we had a snow machine in the high street. We had 40 stalls last year and this year it has gone up, and hopefully next year it will get bigger and bigger.

“We had a lot more visitors this year but we do not know the exact amount yet as we do not have the figures.”

The stalls were based in venues including The Limes Hotel, Needham Institute and Needham Cafe. Last year’s fayre was the first to be held with a similar event taking place in the summer.

A raffle on the day raised money for Suffolk Family Carers and St Elizabeth Hospice.

Christchurch also held its Christmas Tree Festival in the town over the weekend.

Visitors were offered refreshments while they perused the trees and their array of decorations. Donations from the event went to the church and its charities.
