FULL of Roman and Saxon influence, Colchester is the oldest recorded town in the UK and, as you would expect, is steeped in history.
The most iconic landmark is the much-photographed castle, but at every turn there is another indicator of the town’s rich heritage.
In the town centre, there are windy lanes that are a constant reminder of its past.
Surrounding the town are areas of natural beauty, from nature reserves and country parks to the Abberton Reservoir.
