SCORES of avid air enthusiasts descended on a Suffolk airfield this weekend for a festival dedicated to the art of kite-flying.
The two-day Suffolk Kite Festival was held at Rougham Airfield, near Bury St Edmunds.
Sponsored by the EADT’s sister title the Bury St Edmunds Mercury, the kite festival was this year bolstered by an altogether more ground-based activity – off-road driving.
Organised by the Suffolk Kite Flyers group, the festival included displays by some of the finest exponents of kite-flying in Europe as well as inflatable kites over 100ft wide, workshops, four line kites and club demonstrations.
Visitors to the event were also allowed to bring their own kites along and fly them at the airfield.
