IT was a disco with a difference when toddlers and babies joined their parents on the dance floor.

The popular Baby Loves Disco event came to the county yesterday afternoon with hundreds of parents and children attending the launch in Bury St Edmunds.

Organisers said they were delighted with the level of interest as parents turned back time to dance to popular hits from the 1970s and 1980s with children in tow.

Victoria Magnall, the host mum for the Suffolk event, said: “It is just an amazing experience where parents can come and lose their inhibitions and feel comfortable and this makes their children enjoy it even more.

“When I heard about it, I thought it sounded like something I would want to take my children to. It is a great chance for parents, or even grandparents, and their children to have a boogie.

“It is a bit more gentle than the usual nightclub experience - the decibel level is turned down somewhat - but the youngsters love all the lights. It is very much aimed at a good, fun family event.”

As well as the three-hour disco, the event also offers a buggy park, soft-play chill-out area and beauty treatments for parents.

Ms Magnall, whose 11-month-old son Fabian was among the excited youngsters, said she became interested in organising an event in Bury St Edmunds when she read about the success of Baby Loves Disco last year.

The next disco will be held on June 7, again at the Dj Vu nightclub in Bury, and Ms Magnall said she hoped to make it a monthly event by next year.
