JUDGING by the crowd, the Hadleigh Show was the only place to be on Saturday.

Thousands of people descended on Holbecks Park in Hadleigh for the 170th annual show despite the variable weather forecast.

Barbara Jones, show secretary, said it had been a roaring success and thanked organisers and participants for the day.

“Luckily the weather has held out because that does make such a difference.

“It has been a great show.”

A spectacular performance by the Mega Mini Stunt Show, who had driven all the way down from Wigan, proved to be a real crowd pleaser as were the more traditional show entertainments like sheep shearing, show jumping, and parades of foxhounds bloodhounds and horses.

There were also the annual array of prize winning livestock, including goats, donkeys and cows.

The food tent, which boosted a host of locally sourced treats, was a hive of activity throughout the day as visitors were invited to try jams and pickles and wines. There was also a giant chocolate fountain on hand in which to dip marshmallows, mini doughnuts or fruit.

Other attractions included a fun fair, parade of vintage tractors and a falconry demonstration.
