DOZENS of trains roared along the tracks – albeit on a small scale.

More than 2,000 people descended on St Felix School near Southwold to witness one of the biggest model railway events in the country.

The Model Railway Exhibition 2012, organised by Waveney Valley Model Railway Club, provided a raft of layouts spanning the decades including miniature houses, railway stations and trains.

The highlight of the weekend’s event was The Gresley Beat 1923–1939 LNER, deemed a world-renowned layout among the model railway fraternity.

Terry Stock, chairman of the railway club, said he was pleased with the attendance.
