Young performers brought comedy and costume to a Suffolk theatre for their interpretation of a Shakespearean classic.

Year five and six pupils at The Abbey - the preparatory school for Woodbridge School - took to the stage at the Seckford Theatre to perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream for three nights.

Audiences were enchanted by the trials of the young lovers, the intrigue of the court and the mayhem wreaked by a mischievous Puck.

Nicholas Garrett, master of The Abbey, said: “The annual play at The Abbey is one of the highlights of the summer calendar and provides the pupils with a completely new world of imagination to explore and an opportunity to immerse themselves in the magical world of theatre. The talent on stage was superb.”

Backstage, every member of the teaching and support staff was involved with help from several parents.

A retiring collection was held in aid of EACH and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
