A 45-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm in relation to an incident in which a pub-goer had part of his ear bitten off.

A 45-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm in relation to an incident in which a pub-goer had part of his ear bitten off.

Craig Smith, of Blackfriars in Sudbury is set to appear before magistrates in Bury St Edmunds on January 20 in connection with the incident in the centre of Sudbury last September 3.

The injured man was taken to hospital while part of his ear had to be collected from the pavement following the attack outside the Grover and Allen pub.

The man, who has not been named, is thought to have undergone surgery on his ear.
