ESSEX police have appealed for witnesses today after a road crash left a seven-year-old girl dead.
The fatal accident happened on the A130 at Rawreth, near Southend, at about 8pm yesterday.
The girl, who was from the Leigh-on-Sea area, was a passenger in a blue Honda car that left the road and overturned in a field. No other vehicle was involved.
The girl was taken to Southend General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the car, a 38-year-old man also from the Leigh-on-Sea area, was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
The road was closed for about four hours while police officers carried out their initial investigation.
