AN IPSWICH GP is to set to fight a complaint made against her at a General Medical Council conduct hearing next Wednesday.
Dr Sally Whale, who works at the Orchard Street Medical Practice, will be appearing following a claim that in 2007 she failed to arrange the appropriate further investigations or referral for a patient. As a result an opportunity to diagnose bladder cancer was delayed, it is alleged.
The one-day hearing, which is taking place at the GMC in London, will consider whether there are any grounds for Dr Whale to be handed a warning.
Dr Whale has indicated to the GMC that she is not prepared to accept a warning as proposed by the GMC case examiners.
She has elected to have her case heard by the Investigation Committee to consider the matters and it will decide on the case.
Dr Whale declined to comment on the case yesterday.
