Fly-tippers who dumped hundreds of roof tiles in a north Essex country lane are wanted by the local council.
The load, which covered a 10 metre stretch of Hillards Road in Great Bromley, was dumped between Sunday June 8 and Monday June 9.
Cars using the lane were forced to drive over the tiles, breaking them into even smaller pieces, as the road is too narrow to allow drivers to turn around and go back.
Council contractors Veolia Environmental Services had to clear up the scene using a team of men and a mechanical sweeper.
Tendring District Council (TDC) has appealed for information in a bid to catch those responsible.
Nick Turner, councillor for environment at TDC, said: “We take fly-tipping extremely seriously and where we have the evidence we will not hesitate to prosecute and take people through the courts if necessary.
“This type of action is not acceptable and not will it be tolerated. I urge anyone who can help out to come forward. After all, we all have to pay for this clear-up operation out of the public purse.”
