Don’t pack away that bobble hat just yet - you could use it to help break a world record.

A final call has gone out for people to take part in an attempt to break the world record for the highest number of people in one place wearing a bobble hat.

The madcap venture is the idea of teachers at Great Cornard Middle School, which is due close this summer as part of the move to a two-tier system.

To mark the occasion an open day is being held tomorrow afternoon - Saturday May 18 - with the unseasonal record attempt as the grand finale.

People are being invited to go along to help beat the existing record of 764 hat-wearers.

Rules for the record are very strict and to count each hat must be made of wool and have a woollen bobble on top.

The organisers have spare hats if you don’t have one.

The open day takes place at Great Cornard Middle School from 2pm to 5pm with the record attempt due to happen at 4pm.
