Halstead: Woman rescued from flat after blaze breaks out

AN INVESTIGATION is being carried out to establish who a fire broke out in the flat.

Crews were called to White Horse Avenue in Halstead, Essex, at 8pm following reports that a flat had become heavily smoke logged.

A spokesman for the brigade said: “Firefighters rescued an elderly woman from her heavily smoke logged flat after fire broke out.”

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters tackled the flames using a hose reel jet.
