A MAN had to be rescued after being injured while working on a ship in a yard in Harwich this afternoon.
The incident happened at Harwich Dock navy yard in Kings Quay Street at 3.45pm and fire crews from Dovercourt and Manningtree and an aerial ladder platform (ALP) from Colchester were sent to the scene along with ambulance paramedics.
The man suffered “crush injuries” including broken bones in his legs and lacerations.
A fire service spokesman said: “The man was rescued by crews by 4.51pm. He was brought back to shore using an ALP. The man was left in the care of the ambulance service.”
