HARWICH MP Douglas Carswell has fallen victim to the great conference pass fiasco.

He has been waiting two days for his accreditation to clear and has been prevented from entering the Bournemouth venue because he has yet to have his security approved by the Dorset police.

Last week in Manchester, some Labour delegates queued for a day and a half to have their conference accreditation cleared by the police.

Delays have been put down to the increased number of delegates attending both conference which have overwhelmed the vetting process.

Mr Carswell said: “It may be a blessing in disguise. If this is what happens with a few thousand conference passes, how on earth will 60 million identity cards be issued if the Government goes ahead with its barmy plans?”
