A 19-year-old man from Harwich has been arrested and police are seeking a second man following a fail-to-stop collision in Main Road, Dovercourt yesterday afternoon, February 27.
Police were called by the Ambulance Service just after 3.30pm after a teenage boy was struck by a Renault Megane car, which then drove off from the scene.
The 16-year-old teenager suffered a broken leg and tendon damage and was taken to hospital. The car, believed to have been stolen earlier from the local area, was found burned out near the sewage works off the A120 and has been recovered by police for forensic examination.
The arrested man is being questioned on suspicion of being involved in an assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Detectives in Clacton want to hear from anyone who saw the incident, remembers seeing the blue Megane or has any information about the car fire. Anyone who can help is asked to contact Ds Jules Cole or Dc Phil Terry at Clacton CID on 101 or give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 101.
