A spate of gas pipe thefts in Haverhill could have put people in danger, police have warned.

The alert came after three separate incidents where gas pipes outside domestic properties were either cut or broken and left hanging after what officers believe may have been attempted thefts of copper piping.

The incidents took place in the Haverhill area overnight Monday July 22 - Tuesday July 23 with gas pipes damaged outside properties at Kirtling Place, Hamlet Road and Elmhurst Close.

Police have warned of the danger of gas leaks and said that if people are unaware gas pipes have been tampered with there is a risk of flames going near.
