A NEW stage version of a hit teenage film is coming to Ipswich Regent in the summer, it has been announced.
Demand for tickets for High School Musical 2 - the second in the blockbusting franchise - is expected to be very high, said David Mansfield, general manager of the theatre.
“Every now and again there is a show that captures the imagination of a generation. High School Musical is one of these shows and it continues to be hugely successful. We are really pleased that we will be the first venue in East Anglia to present this new production,” he said.
The box office will be selling tickets for the September show from this morning.
The stage tour of the first film was one of the most successful UK tours ever. This sequel has been brought to the stage by the same team and features a book by David Simpatico, adapted from the original movie script by Peter Barsocchini, and a score featuring songs from the film version, including What Time Is it?, You Are The Music In Me and Fabulous.
Casting will be announced later in the year.
High School Musical 2 is at Ipswich Regent Theatre from September 28 to October 3 2009. Tickets from 12 (Booking fees may apply). The box office can be contacted on 01473 433100 or online at www.ipswichregent.com
