A MAN is due in court today charged with making threats to kill during a hostage situation in Clacton on Friday night.

Armed police were sent to a house in North Road, Clacton, at about 8.40pm after receiving reports that a 26-year-old local man had been taken hostage.

An Essex Police spokesman said the man was freed unharmed two hours later and one arrest was made.
