A Freckenham field could be turned into a dog training and exercising space, under new plans submitted to the council.

Currently in use as arable land, an area of Fordham Road would be available to dog owners in 50-minute bookable slots.

The applicants state that they have support from Freckenham parish councillors, the local vets, professsional dog walkers and owners in the area.

They plan to introduce a new parking area and secure the perimeter of the field with 6ft high fencing to ensure the dogs' safety.

The planning statement adds: "We believe the dog park would be beneficial to the local community and will help towards the ongoing issues Freckenham has experienced with dog fouling in the public recreational area, providing a safe and secure area for both dogs and their owners to enjoy."

It also points to the increase in reactive dogs since the Covid-19 pandemic, due to increased sales and decreased socialisation opportunities, saying the land will act as a safe space to walk them.
