Hundreds of people gathered at Clacton Leisure Centre (CLC) over the weekend as part of a free family fun day.
Keen to show that fitness can be fun, the centre offered activities including badminton, basketball and table tennis for visitors, as well as taster sessions in boxing, walking netball and gymnastics.
There was even a cheerleading display and a family Zumba session to get heart rates up, plus lifestyle offers like free massages and gait analysis with local osteopaths.
Lynda McWilliams, Tendring District Council’s cabinet member for leisure and partnerships, said she was impressed with the turnout.
“It was certainly more of a day to head to the beach but we had an excellent attendance for the free family fun day at CLC,” she said.
“There were all ages taking part from a one-year-old on the bouncy castle to the slightly older gentlemen competing in the walking football tournament.”
