Hundreds of homes Suffolk were without power this morning after strong winds struck the county last night.

According to UK Power Networks, 245 homes were affected in the IP13, IP5 and IP7 postcodes, near Woodbridge, this morning due to a fault with a high voltage overhead electricity line.

As of 12pm today, 22 homes were still affected by the power cut. By 1pm all homes had their power back on.

This morning a spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “There is currently a power cut in this area.

“Our engineers are working hard to fix it as quickly as possible.

“We are sorry for any trouble this may have caused you.”

There were also reports of power cuts in Westhorpe, Drinkstone, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds last night although engineers have now restored the electricity.
