POLICE are today appealing for help to catch robbers who stole a man's car at knifepoint in Wherstead.

POLICE are today appealing for help to catch robbers who stole a man's car at knifepoint in Wherstead.

The male victim had parked in a lay-by on The Street to have a cigarette at around 1.30pm yesterday when the attack happened.

A black Honda Civic drove past and returned a minute later when a man got out of the vehicle, held a knife and demanded the driver hand over his keys. The driver complied and the cars drove off towards the A137.

The offender who stole the car, a blue Subaru Impreza, is described as white, in his late 20s to mid 30s, of slim build,

between 5 foot 11 inches and 6ft 1ins tall, with short dark brown or black hair and stubble.

He was wearing a dark blue baseball cap, a faded black t-shirt, a dark blue jacket, dark jeans and black boots. He spoke with an eastern European accent.

The Honda driver is described as a white male and was wearing a cream-coloured hooded top with the hood up and a light brown baseball cap.

The offenders' vehicle was a black N-registration Honda Civic, with dull paintwork and a grey interior. It had a loud exhaust and a square rear number plate.

The Subaru is registration EY07 MTO and is a limited edition GB270 model.

Police want to hear from anyone who was driving in the Wherstead area at the time, or who may have seen either vehicle following the robbery.
