SHOPPERS in the town will be able to visit the Bath Christmas Market by a steam-hauled direct train in December.
The Cathedrals Express will run direct from Ipswich to Bath Spa station and return on December 1 – it will be hauled by the mainline express steam locomotive, A1 Class 60163 Tornado.
The train will leave Ipswich at 8am and will travel at speeds of up to 75mph – it is expected to take about five hours to get to Bath.
Steam Dreams chairman, Marcus Robertson, said: “Tornado has been specially designed to enable it to go further between water stops and its impressive raw power enables it to travel at its maximum speed of 75mph most of the time.”
