People claiming to work for Ipswich Borough Council have knocked on at least one door in the Chantry area and asked for money. An anxious householder contacted the local area housing office.
A spokesman for the council said: “We have reported this to the police. Everyone working for or representing the borough council will have authentic ID and will not ask anyone for cash. We urge people to be on their guard.”
