A TOWN florist is calling on kind-hearted residents to help spread a little festive cheer.

Kevin Bernhardt, of Calla’s Floral Designs in Wingfield Street, is donating a Christmas tree, lights and a stand to St Elizabeth Hospice and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

But the 39-year-old, of Ipswich, is urging residents to support the hospices by donating baubles and decorations for the two trees.

“I wanted to do this because I think everyone knows someone who has been affected by the work of the hospices,” Mr Bernhardt said. “We deliver a lot of flowers to people at St Elizabeth Hospice.

“With the children’s hospice as well, I thought it would be great to do this because Christmas is really about children.”

Mr Bernhardt has set a theme for the two trees and anyone wanting to donate decorations for St Elizabeth Hospice’s tree is asked to ensure they are red and gold. Donations for EACH should be silver and purple.

To donate festive decorations, pop into Calla’s Floral Designs in Wingfield Street before Friday, December 7.

The trees will be put up at both hospices during the week of December 10.
