About 30 homes were temporarily left without water on Thursday evening after an incident at the Old Cattle Market bus station in Ipswich.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said workers on the site accidentally knocked off a clasp, called a ferrule, which connects the service pipe to the water main.
It left homes in Turret Lane temporarily without any water and also caused some minor flooding along that stretch of road.
The spokesman for Anglian Water added: “We are sorry for the disruption and inconvenience caused to the residents in the 30 properties affected.”
