SUFFOLK’S most-arrested prolific offender Aaron Knock today pledged to mend his ways after admitting his 104th and 105th offences.

The 21-year-old, who has been detained by police on more than 130 occasions, vowed: “I’m going to change one of these days.”

Knock, of Shakespeare Road, Ipswich, pleaded guilty before the town’s magistrates to trying to dodge a 7.20 minicab fare when making off without payment.

He also admitted disorderly conduct after threatening to get a gun and shoot a police officer who was arresting him.

During the hearing the court was told that since Knock was released from a 16-month sentence last November for aggravated vehicle taking, he had been trying to comply with his supervision requirements.

A member of the probation service told magistrates: “He’s making some progress and, for Aaron, he’s doing very well.”

After going to the court office and paying a 35 fine, 15 victim surcharge and 7.20 compensation to the cab driver, Knock said: “I do regret it.

“I’m trying to keep out of trouble. More than 100 offences – it’s a joke, isn’t it.

“I don’t go out and do violence. I have been getting drunk and hanging round with the wrong crowd.”

Asked where he hoped to be in five years time, Knock replied: “I hope I will be working and have my own place.”

The court heard Knock had 54 convictions for 103 offences, including 11 public order offences and a number of dishonesty convictions.

John Hughes, representing Knock, said his client had paid his share of the minicab fare to one of the other passengers who left the vehicle and therefore was not prepared to pay the full amount.

After getting out of the car Knock went to the railway station and took another taxi, which he paid for.

Mr Hughes added Knock had been trying to get himself on the right track since being released from detention last November.

He said “He’s been attending his appointments for supervision and the like, and generally, he’s trying to mend his ways.”
