Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and woman were robbed in Ipswich.

The incident happened in Hawes Street, near to the roundabout which turns into Wherstead Road, at approximately 1.30am this morning.

A man and a woman have been approached by two men on bicycles. The woman was pushed against the wall and the man pushed to the floor.

One of the men demanded money from the woman, before searching her handbag and stealing an amount of cash. The man whilst on the floor was assaulted and had his wallet stolen containing an amount of cash and cards. It is also believed that the male victim’s mobile phone has fallen out of his pocket, which was also taken by the men. The male offenders then biked off towards the town centre.

The male victim sustained bruising to the face as a result of the incident. The female did not sustain injuries.

The first offender is described as a man of African Caribbean appearance, aged between 18 to 24-years-old, of a slim build, approximately 5’8” tall and was wearing jeans, gloves and a dark coloured hooded top.

The second offender is described as a white man, between 5’6” and 5’8” tall, of a medium build and was wearing a dark coloured zipped hooded top, dark coloured trousers, black coloured shoes, gloves and had a scarf covering his face.
