A man was arrested in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of raping a woman in an Ipswich alleyway last month.
The alleged attack took place near a car park off Lower Brook Street at 2.35am on Sunday, April 20. The Town Pastors alerted police officers to the incident after being approached by a member of the public who had spoken with a distressed woman.
Following police inquiries and media appeals a 40-year-old Ipswich man was arrested at an address in the town just before 4am this morning.
The suspect is currently being held in custody for questioning at the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.
