TWO men are being hunted by police after a man was assaulted twice and then robbed in Ipswich early today.

The 23-year-old victim was walking along Tuddenham Road at around 2.30am when he was knocked to the ground from behind and attacked by two men who then ran off towards the town centre.

Two male passers-by helped the victim up and made sure he was not hurt. The man then continued on his way and the pair who helped him walked off towards the Ipswich Cemetery.

A couple of minutes later the original two men returned and assaulted the victim again, demanding his wallet and mobile phone, which he handed over. The men then left towards the town centre again.

The victim suffered minor head injuries and received treatment at Ipswich Hospital.

The first offender is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, with black hair and stubble, and was wearing a grey top. There is no description of the second offender.

Police want to trace the two men who helped the victim. They also want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the two assaults and robbery, or anyone else with information about this incident.
