A MAN who had been arrested on suspicion of an alleged rape has been released after the victim dropped her complaint against him.
Police were called just after 7am on Saturday, March 5, to reports that a woman in her 20s, who is from Ipswich, had been sexually assaulted a few hours earlier in the Melville Road area.
Two days later, on Monday, March 7, detectives arrested a 24-year-old man from Ipswich on suspicion of the offence, and released him on police bail pending further inquiries.
But officers have now concluded their investigation and released the man from bail today as the victim no longer wishes to proceed with her complaint against him.
