It has been reported that the man who permanently scarred and partially blinded Strictly Star Katie Piper, has been released from jail.

Stefan Sylvestre, now 30, was reportedly released from Highpoint prison, in Stradishall, Suffolk, on Wednesday, October 10- after serving just nine years of his life sentence.

The attacker was just 19 years of age when he committed the offence- and during his time in custody it was reported that he actively avoided anti-social behaviour.

Sylvestre, from Shepherds Bush, west London, was given a life sentence in 2009 after Piper’s obsessive ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch had arranged for Sylvestre to launch the attack.

Katie Piper, 35, who has been strutting her stuff on Strictly for the past few weeks, was left with life-threatening burns and had to undergo more than 30 operations on her face and throat.

After being released on Wednesday, Sylvestre was reportedly driven by police officers to a bail hostel in London, according to The Sun.

He is now likely to be subject to strict licence conditions, including a restraining order which bans him from contacting Piper in any way.

Piper, who has spent years working as a TV presenter, posted on Instagram this week saying she was “using meditation to stay calm and centred” after hearing the news.
