The fire service in Essex had to release a man from his vehicle yesterday after he became trapped following an accident.

The two-vehicle crash in Coggeshall Road, Kelvedon, at about 5.20pm caused the van to leave the road and end up in a ditch.

Fire crews from Coggeshall and Tiptree used one set of cutting equipment to release the man by 6.05pm. He was left in the care of the ambulance service.

A spokesman for Essex Police said he did not believe the accident was serious.
