A DRIVER has been taken to hospital after a key carriageway was closed in both directions following a four-car crash.

The incident happened on the A11 at Elveden at 12.50pm and caused tailbacks as far as the Fiveways roundabout in Mildenhall and Thetford.

The collision involved two white vans and two Peugeot cars.

The driver of a white Renault van was taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds but it is not known what his injuries were.

Debris from the crash has now been cleared, a police spokeswoman said.
