Students from King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds were honoured at a special awards ceremony to celebrate achievement on Thursday.
The inaugural awards evening recognised the achievements of 220 pupils over the last academic year, and students were joined by their families, friends, staff, governors and special guests at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
Jo Churchill, MP for Bury St Edmunds, was guest speaker on the evening, and the school’s symphony orchestra and flagship choir, Ex Silentio, performed for attendees.
Lee Walker, headteacher, said: “The evening went wonderfully well. It was delightful to spend time in such a beautiful venue to recognise the achievements of our students.
“It was terrific to have Jo there. Jo has been a stalwart supporter of the school for many years and she spoke very engagingly about our core values.
“We hope to hold the event at the cathedral next year and hope that it becomes a firm fixture in our school calendar.”
