POLICE are today investigating an incident in which a laser was shone into the cockpit of a military helicopter flying over Suffolk.

POLICE are today investigating an incident in which a laser was shone into the cockpit of a military helicopter flying over Suffolk.

The pilot of the RAF Sea King was forced to cover his eyes when a green light was flashed towards him from the ground at around 7.45pm last night.

The crew from Wattisham Airfield were travelling in the Grundisburgh area on a routine training operation when the incident happened.

They were able to return safely to base and the pilot was examined by a medic before being given the all-clear.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said this act could have been fatal and is calling on people to come forward with information.
