FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a blaze involving a stack of straw that is believed to have been started deliberately.
The incident was reported at about 11.50am in Hadstock Road, Linton, near the Suffolk/Essex border and a crew from nearby Haverhill was sent to the scene.
The stack - which is estimated at 50 tons - was well alight upon arrival.
A fire spokesman said: “The crew created a fire break within the stack and the affected section left to burn. The stop was received at 1.07pm, stating the land owner was now in attendance and the incident (was) handed over directly to them.”
The appliance was back at base and the incident closed at 1.37pm.
