A Suffolk primary school has thrown their own Royal Wedding at a local church today.
Pupils from Long Melford Church of England Primary School have taken part in a wedding ceremony at Holy Trinity Church.
The service which was officiated by Reverend Matthew Lawson taught the pupils what happens during a wedding ceremony.
Amanda Woolmer, Headteacher, said: “It was a way of enriching the curriculum, and linking it to the Royal Wedding made it extra special. We took the children up to church and had Reverend Matthew Lawson hold the service and stop during to explain what and why he was doing things.”
As part of their project year five children auditioned and voted for who they thought should be bride, groom, best man, chief bridesmaid and all the other key parts of a wedding. The twenty pupils in reception class were all bridesmaids and pageboys.
Mrs Woolmer added: “Everybody thoroughly enjoyed it, everything went to plan and we had good weather it was a great way to celebrate the Royal Wedding.”
The bride was Charlotte Farrow and the groom was Ryan Norfolk, who are both 10-years-old, they were described as an excellent bride and groom by their headteacher.
After the wedding the children returned back to school and had a wedding lunch. This was then followed by speeches and the cutting of the wedding cake.
