Burglars used a garden spade to open a window at a home in Middleton between 11am Christmas Eve and noon yesterday.
Money, a gold watch inscribed with “30 years loyal service” and “CR PRice”, and jewellery including two gold diamond rings were stolen from the property in Rectory Road.
The items stolen were worth a four-figure sum in total, police said.
Witnesses or anyone with information should call Detective Constable Mike Pannell at Braintree CID at Essex Police on 101.
