Drivers faced long rush hour delays on the A14 after a four-car crash left oil across the road.

Four cars collided just before 5.30pm on the westbound carriageway, between junction 57 Nacton Interchange and junction 56 Wherstead Interchange.

No one was badly hurt in the crash, which happened near the Orwell Bridge, but one driver complained of neck pain when police and paramedics arrived.

A police spokesman said the crash left oil covering around 100 yards of the road and advised drivers to take care approaching the scene.

The wreckage was soon cleared from the road to a lay-by but the collision caused long tailbacks, though traffic was being allowed to pass.
