A BANK card and cash were stolen after an incident at a cashpoint machine in Lowestoft this morning.

At about 10.15am this morning a 72-year-old man went to deposit money at the Nationwide ATM in London Road North and put his card in but the machine would not accept the envelope with the cash in so he went inside for assistance.

A police spokesman said: “Moments later he realised the card was still in the machine and went back to retrieve it but the card was gone and it was then discovered that someone had withdrawn over 200 from his account.

“Police are asking anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the machine around this time to come forward if you have any information and are making enquiries to trace the thief.”
