Lowestoft: Inquest opened into death of mother and three children

AN INQUEST has been opened and adjourned into the death of a Lowestoft mother and her three children.

Heavily pregnant Fiona Anderson, 23, was found dead early on Monday in Lowestoft, and the bodies of her children Levina, Addy and Kyden, were later discovered at an address in London Road South, Lowestoft.

An inquest was formally opened at Ip-City Centre, Ipswich, this morning.

Det Insp Trevor Prior, of Suffolk and Norfolk Major Investigation Team, said: “On April 15 at 8.05am police ad ambulance were called to Gordon Road which was adjacent to the multi-storey car park to reports a female had been found with head injuries.

“A pregnant female in her 20s was found unconscious and paramedics pronounced her dead at 8.35am.

“Police conducted enquiries and identified witnesses who had seen the woman in the car park and one of those witnesses had seen her jump from the top floor of the car park.

“Police carried out enquiries to identify the family and following information attended the home address of Fiona Anderson. Police gained access to the flat and in the main bedroom they found the three bodies of infant children who appeared deceased. They were pronounced dead at 11.27am.”

He said a full Home Office post mortem examination had been carried out and Fiona had severe head injuries consistent with a fall from height.

For the children, the cause of death has not been determined and are subject to further tests.

Fiona’s unborn child was killed as soon as she sustained injures from the fall, the inquest was told.

The inquest was adjourned for police and medical investigations.
