Rail services on the East Suffolk line will run only as far as Beccles for the next two weekends as Network Rail upgrades lines in the Lowestoft area.
There will be no trains between Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth and Norwich for nine days on the lines while engineers replace signalling and some tracks.
During the week trains from Ipswich will continue to reach Lowestoft, but on both weekends the line will be closed to allow the section between Oulton Broad and Lowestoft to be upgraded.
Buses will replace trains during the closures which will see some of the oldest signalling on Britain’s rail network updated.
Meliha Duymaz, Network Rail’s route managing director for Anglia, said: “The next phase of this project is vital to continue to transform the railway. While I understand that closing the railway is an inconvenience I would like to reassure passengers that this work will deliver tangible benefits to rail journeys.”
